Despite the struggles which currently affect many independent traders throughout the UK, the town centre has retained many small shops, and there is a wide variety of thriving restaurants and cafes. The recently constructed Link Road has improved access by car to north Hastings and beyond, and Bexhill is served by three railway stations with regular services to Brighton, London and Ashford International. The volunteer community bus supplements local services to provide additional local transport. Taxis ranks and offices are situated throughout the town centre and are normally readily available. Bexhill has a strong community ethos and a longstanding tradition of community organised unique events, which are a great source of pride for residents and bring thousands of visitors to the town. Major events in Bexhill play a significant role in contributing to the town’s economy. From the very first motor race along the seafront in 1902 to The Bexhill 100 Festival in the 1990s, Classic Car Shows, its own Carnival Week and Party in the Park, and more recently the Bexhill Roaring Twenties, Annual Festival of the Sea, Sixties Revolution and illuminated parade at Christmas, there is always something for both visitors and residents to look forward to.
